Why Manchester United are playing Tottenham at 8.15pm on Wednesday

October 18, 2022

Manchester United will hope to shirk the disappointment of Sunday’s goalless stalemate with Newcastle with a statement win against Tottenham on Wednesday.

The hosts have already seen off league leaders Arsenal and FA Cup winners Liverpool at Old Trafford this season but the visit of Spurs will be a great litmus test for how far Erik ten Hag has progressed his side in their quest for the top four.

He is expected to bring Anthony Martial back into the fold after he sat out the draw with Newcastle. The Frenchman could be joined by ex-Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen who also missed the match, his absence due to illness.
