Manchester United favourite Robin van Persie is working towards earning his coaching badges..

Manchester United hero Robin van Persie passed on vital tips about finishing to Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri during his coaching session at the Carrington training ground.

Van Persie was spotted back in the area on Monday night when dining with United manager Erik ten Hag and the agent they both share. It emerged the former Netherlands striker had touched down in the UK as part of a drive to earn further coaching badges after hanging up his boots in 2019.

The 39-year-old is currently assistant manager at Feyenoord but, during his playing days, was a renowned forward winning two Golden Boots in the Premier League. One of those came at Old Trafford the season after he signed for United from rivals Arsenal with Van Persie going on to score 58 goals in 105 matches for the club.

Van Persie also boasted a similar strike-rate for the Netherlands. So what better person to learn from as prospects such as Garnacho and Pellistri – among others – got up close and personal with him at Carrington.

Van Persie took to social media to express his gratitude to Ten Hag and United for granting him an opportunity to work on the training ground. Uploading an image featuring Benni McCarthy, Garnacho and Pellistri, he said: “Thanks for the warm welcome Manchester United and Erik ten Hag.

A great time back at Carrington for a trip down memory lane and to learn the ropes from one of the best coaches in modern football.” His post has already received 47,000 likes and countless comments.

Pellistri replied to Van Persie with top and fire emojis, while United coach McCarthy explained what the Dutchman had been working on with the next generation. He posted: “It was an absolute pleasure having you around.

“Legend. Really enjoyed our finishing session with the boys. All the very best with your coaching development. You have the making of a top coach.” McCarthy added thumbs-up and football emojis
