West Ham United have reportedly named their price for England international Declan Rice, with the Hammers midfielder previously linked with a move to Manchester United.
The 24-year-old is also thought to be a target for Arsenal, Chelsea and United – with Erik ten Hagthought to be keen on signing another midfielder in the summer transfer window. Speaking on ‘White and Jordan’, talkSPORT host Jim White also claimed that United had made a bid for Rice last summer.
Hammers manager David Moyes has previously insisted that it would take more than £150million for Rice to be sold by the London outfit. The midfielder is out of contract next year, but West Ham have the option of extending his deal by a further year. The England ace has made 27 appearances in all competitions this term.
What would it take for a bid to be deemed successful in the next window? It is our understanding £120million, plus add-ons, would get him,” White said. “We understand that Manchester United last summer bid £100m and didn’t get him. Chelsea, Arsenal and United are still in the frame. That’s what it would take £120m, plus add-ons.”
Elsewhere, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, speaking to GiveMeSport, suggested that Leicester City star Youri Tielemans could be a ‘real option’ for United if the Reds secure Champions League football for next season.
According to Sky Sports, the Reds discussed the possibility of signing Tielemans during the final hours of the winter window, but ultimately opted to sign Marcel Sabitzer on loan from German giants Bayern Munich.
Tielemans is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and is expected to leave the Foxes. The 25-year-old has made 185 appearances for Leicester since arriving in England, registering 28 goals and 25 assists.
Jacobs believes that the Belgian could be tempted by a move to Old Trafford, especially if Ten Hag’s side find themselves in the Champions League next term. He said: “I think that Tielemans was not too sold on Manchester United under previous managers. But, with Erik ten Hag turning things around, if Manchester United qualify for the Champions League that could be a real option for them.
“If they lose a midfielder, they might feel like a box-to-box midfielder or an attacking midfielder, like Youri Tielemans, he could be the type of player that not only balances the books a little bit but can chip in with some goals and help add a little bit of control into central midfield. Manchester United and Arsenal are still two to watch.”
