Manchester United fans made their feelings on club legend Cristiano Ronaldo clear during their Carabao Cup tie against Burnley.
The Red Devils played the Clarets in their first match since the iconic centre-forward had his contract mutually terminated following an explosive interview with TalkTV.
Erik ten Hag’s side restarted their season in style beating the Championship side 2-0 – but their fans also had their focus on the man that they couldn’t say goodbye to after he left during the World Cup break.
And footage posted on TikTok shows the Old Trafford faithful had come up with a new song for their former talisman.
Posted with the captions ‘bye bye Ronaldo’ the home fans are heard belting out: “I don’t care about Ronnie, Ronnie doesn’t care about me.
All I care about is MUFC.”
Ronaldo is currently a free agent following his explosive comments about manager Ten Hag, Man United’s hierarchy and general takes on his return to Old Trafford in 2021.
The 37-year-old was the club’s top scorer last season, but before the World Cup break he was a shadow of his former self, frequently starting on the bench under his new boss.
Now, the ex-Man United star – who scored 145 goals in 345 appearances for the club – is linked with a move to Saudi Arabian outfit Al Nassr.
It’s understood the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is expected to sign for them before the end of 2022, with a contract running until 2025.
Meanwhile Man United will get their Premier League back underway without the centre-forward on Tuesday against Nottingham Forest – which you can listen to live on talkSPORT.
