‘So clever’ – Manchester United and Brazil star Casemiro praised by Man City and Argentina great..

December 10, 2022

Casemiro has been superb under Erik ten Hag at Man United since his move from Real Madrid over the summer.

Former Manchester City player Pablo Zabaleta has praised “brilliant” Manchester United midfielder Casemiro ahead of Brazil’s quarter-final clash with Croatia.

Casemiro has been one of his country’s best players during the World Cup, as Brazil continue to flex their muscles heading deeper into the competition. It is clear to see why they were tipped as the pre-tournament favourites, with the Selecao boasting a vast array of jaw-dropping talent.

Although their attacking options steal the headlines more often than not, Casemiro has been instrumental during their time in Qatar. Head coach Tite is expected to pick the United midfielder once again when they take on Croatia, as the 30-year-old continues to keep the likes of Liverpool’s Fabinho on the bench.

Should Brazil progress against their European opponents, they would set up a semi-final with the winners of the Netherlands vs Argentina. An all-South American tie to reach the final is a mouth-watering prospect, as the two nations harbour one of the deepest rivalries the game has ever seen.

It is then perhaps odd to hear rivals praise one another, yet such is Casemiro’s talent, that is exactly what has happened. Zabaleta has waxed lyrical about the United midfielder, as he explained exactly what it is that makes the Brazilian so good.

He told ESPN: “He can be aggressive on the field, but he’s so clever, especially with those tactical fouls in the opposite half. Between the lines he’s also brilliant, and he’s great at reading the game.”
