Manchester United are back in action when they travel to face Real Betis in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie this evening.
Erik ten Hag’s side head into the match with a three-goal cushion from the first leg a week ago, but know there is still work to do before they can be sure of their place in the quarter-finals.
United are heavy favourites to progress from the tie, but that doesn’t mean they will be making many changes, and Ten Hag has already indicated that he will field a strong side.
In terms of team news, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro both start the match, while there is a first start for Facundo Pellistri. Marcel Sabitzer is available for selection again and makes the bench. Anthony Martial and Antony will both miss out on the fixture and have not traveled to Spain for it.
Warming up
Steve McClaren is playing the role of defender in United’s shooting drills, pressing against a player as they lay the ball off for a teammate to shoot first time.
Weghorst has just put the ball in the back of the net first time from a cross. Both of his goals for United have been rebounds, which is typical of his goalscoring presence, or lack of it, in a United shirt.
The United supporters are in the third tier again, as they were for the friendly here in Barcelona. It was the same at Atletico last year and would be the case if they go back to the Bernabeu next season.
Why Pellistri starts tonight
Erik ten Hag believes Facundo Pellistri can exploit a tactical weakness in the Real Betis side for Manchester United.
United hold a three-goal cushion as they face the La Liga side in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday evening.
Pellistri, 21, will make his competitive full debut in the match, having only ever appeared as a substitute for the club at first-team level before.
