28mins: Important block from Lascelles. De Bruyne did was De Bruyne does best… he picked up the ball inside Newcastle’s half, drove forwards before unleashing a shot from 20 yards out. However, Lascelles managed to get his body in front of it before any real damage was done.

27mins: Some good physicality shown by Botman there. He battled it out for possession with Haaland inside the Newcastle box and emerged victorious. Haaland looks frustrated.

24mins: Manchester City are dominating possession. They are making Newcastle work hard for the ball. The Magpies are doing a lot of leg-work when pressing the ball, with City playing it in and out of pockets with ease.

20mins: Foden is on fire. I reckon we’ll see a lot more from him this afternoon. He’s just cut inside Burn and fed the ball to Haaland. The Norwegian striker then tried to find Gundogan but Newcastle did well to clear the danger.
Anyone else get the feeling this could be a long day for Newcastle?

17mins: Chance for Newcastle! The Magpies picked up the ball on the left-hand-side and carried it forward before finding Longstaff. He cut in and shot at goal but his effort was blocked by Ake.

When he said he was back, he really meant it! You just can’t stop Phil Foden at the moment. Manchester City youngster has given his side the lead in the opening 15 minutes of the game.
Foden’s goal was a moment of excellence, beating three players before taking a shot that was defelected in. However, it has to be said… Newcastle need to defend better than that.
30mins: Another important block for Newcastle! This time it was Foden that was causing the Mapgies headaches. He picked up the ball on the flank, cut inside and struck the ball towards goal. However, Botman (once again!) got in the way.
