It’s looking very likely now that Mauricio Pochettino will be the next Chelsea boss, and people are already getting excited about what his plans for the team might be.
He won’t be able to spend crazy amounts, and the focus will be on selling rather than buying, but there are a few options that seem possible.
None of these seem realistic – but we’ve said that plenty of times in the last year and been proven wrong.
A striker is our priority, and while Harry Kane would be Pochettino’s first choice, he would cost too much and Spurs would rather sell him to almost any other team. Victor Osimhen looks to be too pricy too, but Rasmus Hojlund could be a nice alternative at a lower cost.
The other critical need is in goal, and we can see Pochettino liking a bit of Ilan Meslier, the Leeds goalkeeper who could be available for a relatively low cost if the Whites go down.
The final option would be the longest shot of all, and is less critical given we’re stronger in his position that most, but you can see the potential of Pochettino’s countryman Alexis Mac Allister as a splashy summer signing – although whether we should be giving more wedges of cash to Brighton is another question.
