Manchester United top scorer Marcus Rashford is set to feature in the club’s match day squad against Newcastle after being included in the travelling party that flew to the North East from Manchester Airport on Saturday evening.
The striker missed England’s Euro 2024 qualifying wins over Italy and Ukraine during the international break after picking up a knock in United’s 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final win over Fulham just before the pause.
Rashford, who has netted 27 times for United this season, was spotted in training this week, boosting hopes of inclusion against Newcastle, who sit three points behind third-place United in fifth.

The attacker scored against the Magpies in February’s 2-0 Carabao Cup final win at Wembley. The other goalscorer that day, Casemiro, will play no part in the fixture as he serves the second of his domestic four-game suspension following his red card against Southampton.
Meanwhile, Scott McTominay – who scored four goals for Scotland during the break, including two against Spain – was seen with the travelling squad as was David de Gea, Raphael Varane and Antony.
Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Fred, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Wout Weghorst and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, among others, were seen too. A number of other stars were not spotted with many usually opting to go straight to the private terminal at Manchester Airport.
The likes of Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial and Marcel Sabitzer were not seen but may have gone directly to the terminal. Erik ten Hag suggested that Martial could return to the fold against Newcastle after a three-month absence through injury.
Meanwhile, Sabitzer was carrying a knee issue during Austria’s 4-1 win over Azerbaijan last week according to head coach and ex-United interim manager Ralf Rangnick, and so the midfielder remained on the bench for the following 2-1 win over Estonia.
Confirmed players in squad vs Newcastle: De Gea, Bishop, Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia, McTominay, Fred, Fernandes, Antony, Sancho, Rashford, Weghorst, Butland, Wan-Bissaka.
