⇑Erik ten Hag and his Manchester United players travelled to London via train on Saturday afternoon ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game against Fulham.
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss Manchester United’s final game before the World Cup.
The forward was absent for United’s Carabao Cup victory over Aston Villa on Thursday through illness, and did not board the train that took his teammates down to London on Saturday afternoon ahead of Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Fulham.
Several United players drove to Manchester Airport before travelling by bus to Stockport train station to meet up with the rest of the team. Some United players were heckled by a Manchester City fan while making their way into the station.
Young trio Alejandro Garnacho, Shola Shoretire and Zidane Iqbal have all travelled, but Jadon Sancho and Antony have not, despite the former reporting to Carrington for training earlier in the day.
Antony has missed United’s last four games with a muscular injury and Ten Hag said on Friday that he was not sure if the Brazilian would be fit for the trip to West London. He said: “Antony? We work on that but I can’t confirm if he will be in the squad on Sunday. He made progress in the last days and we will see tomorrow and Saturday if he will be available for the team on Sunday.”
United are set to play with a makeshift right-back at Craven Cottage with Diogo Dalot suspended. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has made just one appearance this season, while Brandon Williams has not featured at all.
Victor Lindelof is the most obvious option there, with Harry Maguire potentially partnering Lisandro Martinez in the centre of the defence.
United will be be outside the top four at Christmas but Erik ten Hag has been pleased with how his team has performed so far this season.
“I hoped that we would be where we are now,” Ten Hag said. “But it’s better to ask me that question (how he would rate the season) after Sunday. I think Sunday is going to be a really important game. But if you look into the process then you can analyse and make a reflection on it until today and I think we have made progress.
“I think the players are all aware of the importance of the game against Fulham and I will not take the World Cup [into consideration]. We play the best team and until Sunday it is the interest of Manchester United and just for Manchester United.”
