Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag gives Antony injury update

Antony is out of Man United’s Premier League fixture at home to Leeds and Erik ten Hag discussed his absence more specifically.

Antony is not expected to be out for “a long time” for Manchester United, according to manager Erik ten Hag.

The £85.51million winger is unavailable for the Premier League visit of Leeds on Wednesday night and it is unclear if he will return for the reverse fixture on Sunday.

Antony, 22, missed United’s last five games prior to the World Cup and had been available for all 13 of their games following his return from Qatar.

“I don’t know. I don’t think it is a long time but we have to see how it develops in the coming days,” Ten Hag said. “It is in his leg, but I can’t specify. You will understand that.”

United are definitely without three midfielders for the Leeds home game as Casemiro starts his three-match domestic suspension while Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay are sidelined through injury.

Ten Hag was coy on whether United were closer to tying down David de Gea, Diogo Dalot and Garnacho on new long-term contracts.
