Manchester United have reportedly submitted their first official bid for Barcelona striker Memphis Depay as they look to recruit a striker in the new year.
According to journalist Adrian Sanchez, the Reds are interested in re-signing the Dutchman – five years after selling him to Lyon following his underwhelming spell at Old Trafford. The 28-year-old registered seven goals and six assists in 53 appearances for the Reds, featuring on just eight occasions after Jose Mourinho replaced Louis van Gaal.
Depay is said to be keen on a move away from Barcelona after falling down the pecking order under Xavi, with the Dutchman highly unlikely to sign a contract extension at the Camp Nou. He is out of contract at the end of the current season, but a transfer could be on the cards in January.
