Manchester United ‘make Marcel Sabitzer transfer decision’

February 11, 2023

Manchester United are open to signing Marcel Sabitzer permanently should the Austria midfielder impress during his ongoing loan spell at Old Trafford, according to reports.

United swooped for Sabitzer, 28, on January deadline day after playmaker Christian Eriksen was ruled out for at least three months. Bayern Munich were willing to allow Sabitzer to leave temporarily but there is no option or obligation for the Premier League side to buy.

However, after a decent start to his loan spell, Sabitzer could still be a long-term option for the club. It has been claimed United have mentioned that ‘incentive’ to the midfielder as he considers his future.

Sabitzer made his debut for the club when coming off the bench against Crystal Palace and started alongside Fred when Leeds United headed to Old Trafford on Wednesday night. He should retain his place for the return match at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon, with Casemiro still suspended.

Having forged his reputation over seven years with RB Leipzig, the 28-year-old signed for Bayern in 2021 and has made 54 appearances for them in all competitions, despite never being a regular starter. Reports from ESPN suggest United could attempt to sign him permanently.
