Manchester United fans have joked that Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is on his way to Old Trafford this summer following Erik ten Hag’s cheeky gesture on Sunday afternoon.
The Belgian ace started the game on the bench but was brought on by Brendan Rodgers as a second-half substitute in the 3-0 defeat to United. The home side secured an important three points thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford (2) and Jadon Sancho, with the Reds now seven points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in fourth.
As Tielemans prepared to replace Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, United manager Ten Hag moved towards the Belgian, casually walking over to the 25-year-old on the touchline. The Dutchman gave the Leicester star a cheeky tap on the back before he ran on.

Tielemans is out of contract at the King Power at the end of the season and it appears increasingly unlikely that the midfielder will be playing for the Foxes next term. Given he is yet to sign a new deal with the club, Tielemans continues to be linked with a move away in the summer – with United and Arsenal both thought to be interested in the player on a free transfer.
During the clash on Sunday, eagle-eyed United fans who spotted Ten Hag’s interaction with the Leicester man joked that he was already on his way to signing for United in the summer. Here’s how some supporters reacted on social media.
Tielemans joined Leicester for a club-record £40million in 2019, and the 25-year-old scored the winning goal for the Foxes in the 2021 FA Cup final.
