Manchester United could back Erik ten Hag in the January transfer window
Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has tipped the Red Devils to sign up to four players to back Erik ten Hag with, after a positive start to the season. Following the 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday, United sit fifth in the table with several of the Dutchman’s summer signings making a strong impact on the team.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have transformed the midfield, while Lisandro Martinez has quelled his doubters from early in the season with some dominant defensive performances and Tyrell Malacia has shown positive flashes. Following the impact of Ten Hag’s summer recruits, United may be more willing to back the head coach once again in January.
Owen has highlighted four areas where United could be targeting their next transfers, including the possibility of a new Wayne Rooney in addition to a goalscorer and a pair of full-backs. “Cristiano Ronaldo obviously isn’t getting any younger and is not going to be there for another four, five years,” Owen told AceOdds.
“You never know, it might be his last season. So from that point of view, you do wonder where goals will come from. Marcus Rashford has always been a goal scorer but never been absolutely prolific.
