Man United remain interested in Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham ahead of the summer transfer window.
Jude Bellingham produced another polished performance for England on Sunday, helping them beat Ukraine 2-0 at Wembley to maintain their winning start to their European Championship qualifying campaign.
The Borussia Dortmund ace started in a three-man midfield alongside Jordan Henderson and Declan Rice and produced a trademark energetic and exciting display that we have all come to expect from him. The 19-year-old is continuing to progress at a rapid rate and it is little wonder that clubs are queuing up left, right and centre to try and win the race for his signature.
Although Manchester United acknowledge that they are not at the very front of the queue for Bellingham, they have not, as reported by the Manchester Evening News in December, ruled out the prospect of a fresh move for him this forthcoming summer. United attempted to sign the midfielder back in 2020 and he visited the club’s Carrington training base just a few months before he signed for Dortmund.
Since joining the German heavyweights in July 2020, Bellingham has excelled, making 124 appearances in all competitions, scoring 20 goals and grabbing 24 assists. He has also donned the captain’s armband on several occasions and has represented England at both a World Cup and a European Championship.
He is the jewel in Dortmund’s crown, meaning it is no surprise that clubs from right across Europe dream of signing him this summer. Despite being only 19, the former Birmingham City man, who has scored 10 goals for Dortmund this term, is consistently producing performances that a seasoned pro would be proud of.
His all-action, energetic style of play makes him a joy to watch. United manager Erik ten Hag, who wants to recruit a new midfielder this forthcoming summer, is understood to be a massive fan, so much so that he is understood to have told confidants that if he could sign any player in the world it would be Bellingham.
Nevertheless, Bellingham, who has remained relatively quiet on his future in recent months, has detailed exactly why he would be perfect for United, although it has been fairly obvious for a while through his performances on the pitch.
Speaking to Channel 4 after England’s triumph over Ukraine, Bellingham said: “I think there’s so much I’ve got to learn. The way I want to be as a midfielder is someone who can win the game at both ends of the pitch.

“I’ve always wanted to be someone who can do a bit of everything. I think I’ve still got so much to learn, but you have the best chance with the guys in that [England] changing room and the ones at Dortmund.
“I’m like a sponge at the minute, to be honest. I just want to take everything in at any chance I get to learn about the game.”
Taking Bellingham’s comments about wanting to dominate midfield in every department into account, it is further proof that he is just the type of midfielder that Ten Hag is looking for. The youngster is a generational talent and you cannot help but be unable to take your eyes off him when he’s playing.
