Jorge Mendes offer Enzo Fernandez to man United , in term of replacing Fred ,-;after Chelsea bid was rejected

January 6, 2023

The door is open for Manchester United to sign Fernandez reportedly tries to ‘salvage’ a deal after Chelsea’s failed bid.

According to O Jogo, Chelsea have offered €85 million (£75m) for Fernandez having ‘promised’ Benfica that they would meet their €120m (£106m) valuation of the central midfielder.

And as a result, super agent Mendes is working desperately to help facilitate the move to Stamford Bridge for the 21-year-old.

However, with talks reaching an impasse, the door could now open for United manager Erik ten Hag to scupper Chelsea’s move to sign the Argentina World Cup star.

Manchester United handed Enzo Fernandez second chance

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that United were trailing both Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign the 21-year-old.

However, the path could be clear for Ten Hag to bring Fernandez to Old Trafford. That’s because O Jogo are reporting that yesterday, ‘everything changed’ in the negotiations between Chelsea and Benfica.

Chelsea are reportedly offering £75m for Fernandez, with Mendes doing everything in his power to help smooth over negotiations.

And with Ten Hag keen to bring the South American star to Old Trafford, United will undoubtedly be interested spectators.

Beating Chelsea to the signing of Fernandez would be a massive statement of intent by United. The opportunity is there for the Red Devils to hijack the deal.

The Portuguese outlet claim that Chelsea have ‘retreated in their intentions’, leaving Benfica president Rui Costa ‘indignant with anger’.

The proof will be in the pudding as to whether the United board have real ambition to take the club forward…

A £100m bid may well be enough to win the race for Fernandez, and beating Chelsea to his signature would make it all the more impressive.

It’s time for Ten Hag and the United ‘kingmakers’ to get this one done.
