Manchester United starlet Hannibal Mejbri has returned to his loan club after World Cup elimination.

Hannibal Mejbri has urged Manchester United to allow him to stay at Birmingham City this season.

Mejbri, 19, has played 15 matches in the Championship since moving to St. Andrew’s on loan and was named in the Tunisia squad for their World Cup adventure. He played 10 minutes at the Qatar showcase against Denmark as they failed to progress through Group D which also included France and Australia.

As things stand, Mejbri is due to remain at Birmingham until next summer – but United do have an option to recall their loan players and are considering doing that with certain prospects in the January window. Others out on loan include right-back Ethan Laird (QPR) and Ivory Coast attacker Amad Diallo (Sunderland).

It will, ultimately, depend on what business Uniteddo mid-season, with incomings and outgoings. However, as far as Mejbri is concerned, he wants to keep on playing senior games.

He was asked about his immediate future during an interview with CGTN. Mejbri said: “I just need some experience and that is what I have in the Championship with Birmingham.

“When I will be back, I will do the pre-season and see what’s going on.”

On his long-term plans, he told Goal.com : “I am currently playing for Manchester United – and my goal is to achieve any achievement with the best team in the world. I am in Birmingham until next June, and I do my best to serve the team, and will return to Manchester United and I do not know what is in the future.”

Mejbri signed for United from AS Monaco in 2019 and has made three senior appearances for the club.
