Goodbye VDB and McTominay, Man Utd expected to recruit £26m ‘super Fred’ in summer

March 3, 2023

Manu Kone’s asking price declines, according to news from Manchester United.

Given the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay, Manchester United is anticipated to make a midfield acquisition this summer.

Even Fred, who has recently improved, only signed a one-year option, and United need a younger midfielder to relieve Casemiro and Christian Eriksen of some of the load.

Marcel Sabitzer being loaned out is a possibility, and United may have major plans to spend money to defeat Jude Bellingham.

Another choice might be Kouadio ‘Manu’ Kone of Borussia Moenchengladbach, a midfielder in the Bundesliga.

Manu Kone is a potential choice for Manchester United

Manu Kone was playing for Toulouse in 2021, and Footmercato reported that Manchester United was interested in signing him.
L’Equipe claimed in 2017 that United were keeping an eye on Kone when he was playing in the Bundesliga.

With 21 starts for ‘Gladbach this season, he has kept up his impressive play, and L’Équipe reported last month that Kone is garnering interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

While he is only 21 years old, the center midfielder is a very promising young player, and his price tag may boost his viability.

Kone may be permitted to depart this summer for just 30m Euros, or about £26m, according to Fussball Transfers.

With a call-up to the French international squad likely occurring within the next 12 months, this is a very reasonable price for a player whose worth is anticipated to increase over the following five years.

He was estimated to cost more like £40m by Sport1 last year, but Kone’s contract will expire this summer with just two years left on it.
