Fred will be allowed to leave Manchester United on a free transfer next summer, despite the Brazilian having an option to extend his current deal – as Erik ten Hag looks to overhaul his squad.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag would be willing to part ways with Fred over the summer despite being impressed with the Brazilian.

Ten Hag is looking to rebuild United over the summer, and Fred looks to have found himself on the chopping block. According to The Guardian, Ten Hag has been impressed with Fred’s application and team ethic, but it’s not enough to keep him around.

The Dutchman is looking to overhaul his midfield and only believes Casemiro has shown the consistency of a top-class midfielder. Fred’s deal expires next summer, and he’d be able to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer.

However, Fred isn’t the only United man on Ten Hag’s hit list – and Harry Maguire could also be on his way.

Maguire has struggled to establish himself under Ten Hag, having been a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick. However, after poor performances, he was dropped by the Dutchman and hasn’t been able to muscle himself back into the side.
