Football Goodbye Graham Potter, Chelsea target Hansi Flick as ‘potential replacement’

February 13, 2023

Graham Potter has had a difficult start as Chelsea head coach, and Hansi Flick has already been lined up as his replacement according to reports in Germany.

Potter took over as manager of Chelsea in September when Thomas Tuchel was fired, but he has only won nine of the 23 games he has been in charge of thus far. This gives him the lowest win % of any Chelsea manager in the past 27 years.

This record was set despite the fαct that American billionaire Todd Boehly has spent more than €600 million on players in the two transfer windows since he bought the club from Roman Abramovich last May. Boehly purchased the club from Abramovich in May of last year. According to Christian Falk of Sport Bild, despite the fαct that Boehly has openly supported Potter, he has been in contact with Flick over the position of Germany manager.

Hansi Flick also disclosed to me that there were serious negotiations taking place with Tottenham at this time; however, he ultimately made the decision to accept the role of [Germany head coach].

But at this moment, rather than Todd Boehly himself, a middleman was the one who approached Hansi Flick at her door. When I questioned Flick about this, he responded by saying that he had “no comment.” It would have been simpler for him to deny that it was true, but he didn’t do that. As a result, you can see that there is something there. However, this is not an option for Hansi Flick because he wants to continue to lead Germany at the European Championships in 2024 when they are held in Germany.”

It’s possible that Flick wants to continue leading his country up to Euro 2024, but there’s still reason to believe he’s missing the fast-paced action of club football.
