Borussia Dortmund welcome back several stars ahead of UEFA Champions League clαsh vs Chelsea
On Wednesday night, Borussia Dortmund will play host to Chelsea in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 matchup. Prior to the matchup, Borussia Dortmund received some encouraging news.
The German team has been handicapped by a number of ailments (h/t Football.London), but the return of Jilian Ryerson and Salih Ozcan, in addition to Sebastian Haller, who had treatment for testicular cαncer, will offer them encouragement in front of the crucial matchup. Before the World Cup, Dortmund were having a bad run in the league, but since then, they have turned their luck around and are doing much better.
The black and yellow squad is in fine form right now, as evidenced by the fαct that they are third in the standings and have won four of their most recent five contests.
They still have two matches left to play before they take on Chelsea at home. The Blues are currently in ninth place in the standings despite having just one win in their last four contests. However, when Reece James comes back, it will be a huge boost for the club since by that point, he will have built up sufficient match fitness.
They have only scored twice in their last six games, and they are up against a Dortmund club that has scored 15 goals in their last four games. The team that is coached by Graham Potter has been having trouble recently finding the back of the net.
Concerns have been voiced about the Blues’ deficiencies in front of the goal as a result of this, and the fαct that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be included in the Champions League team will not help.
