Manchester United are now being linked with a move for Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma.
The Sun report Manchester United sent scouts to watch Mitoma in action for the Red Devils’ FA Cupsemi-final opponents.
Mitoma has scored nine goals and provided three assists for Brighton this season.
Brighton paid just £2.7 million to sign Mitoma from Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale.
Kaoru Mitoma linked to Manchester United
Japan international Kaoru Mitoma has been one of the revelations of the season, delivering dynamic performances down Brighton’s left wing.
He is the type of high-intensity winger who will appeal to manager Erik ten Hag. And he is not the only Brighton player who may be of interest.
Evan Ferguson and Moises Caicedo are two players from Brighton’s star factory who will sell for millions more than they bought them for.
Mitoma’s pace and dribbling ability is matched by his effectiveness in the final third. He scored a winning goal against Liverpool last month.
Fabrizio Romano reported last month Arsenal are among Mitoma’s admirers, suggesting he could be worth around £35 million.
Manchester United are set to play Mitoma’s Brighton twice, first in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, and then in a Premier League game away, set to be scheduled for May.
- It’s possible United could attempt to sweeten a deal for Mitoma by sending either Facundo Pellistri or Anthony Elanga out on loan, or even selling the latter on a permanent basis in part-exchange.
