500% done deal: Man United set to open talks with ‘David Silva’s heir’.

January 13, 2023

According to reports, Manchester United has made RB Leipzig an offer for Spanish playmaker Dani Olmo. The 24-year-old joined from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020 and will shortly mark his third anniversary at the Red Bull Arena. Since then, he has made 106 appearances for Die Roten Bullen.

In that time, Olmo has scored 19 goals and contributed 22 assists for the German powerhouses, including three goals and four assists from 14 games across all competitions this season.

The former Zagreb forward started each of Spain’s four games at the 2022 World Cup and contributed to one goal and one assist in the 7-0 rout of Costa Rica before La Roja was eliminated by Morocco in the round of 16.

Olmo, who is currently in the final 18 months of his Leipzig contract, has only started seven Bundesliga games this year, despite missing more than a month between September and October due to a knee ιnjury.

Man United has reportedly made an unspecified offer for Olmo, who is also on Bayern Munich’s radar, according to Nacional via football365.

Olmo and Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann collaborated while they were both at Leipzig, and Nagelsmann is reportedly eager to reunite with the versatile playmaker who can play on either wing or as a number 10.

But I believe there is a need [for a striker] since we have a lot of games coming up. Without one who can make a difference, you are just wasting money.

Joao Felix of Atletico Madrid has been heavily connected to a loan move to Old Trafford, but it’s said that Man United is hesitant to pony up the £18.5 million that Atletico is asking for to approve a short-term deal.

Additionally suggested as potential winter acquisitions for Man United are Barcelona’s Memphis Depay, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram, and Al-Vincent Nassr’s Aboubakar, who may be permitted to leave the Saudi Arabian powerhouses following Ronaldo’s arrival.
