Manchester United need to sign support for Diogo Dalot as Aaron Wan-Bissaka has proved unreliable this season

It seems that Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s time at Old Trafford is coming to an end as he has only played four minutes of football under manager Erik ten Hag. Manchester United consequently need to sign a right back in January to provide support for Diogo Dalot.

Dalot has come on leaps and bounds this season so the club need to decide whether they want to sign someone to directly compete with the Portuguese full-back for the starting spot or someone who is willing to act as a deputy.

If it’s the latter then Celtic’s Josip Juranovic could be a potential option. The Daily Mail linked the Croatian right back with a move earlier this season and given it is still a pressing issue for United you would expect that his name could cross their radar in the transfer window.

Croatia went behind thanks to a goal just before half-time from Daizen Maeda, and they needed to equalise to avoid crashing out in the Round of 16. But in the second half, Juranovic broke down the right wing and delivered an inch-perfect whipped cross which was met by Ivan Perisic to make it 1-1.

Celtic will be reluctant to part ways with Juranovic as they sit top of the table under Ange Postecoglu, but a reasonable bid should see the Scottish club part ways with the right back. Even if he is just one of the options on United’s shortlist, he is someone who they should consider to be an understudy for Dalot.
